It’s that time again, folks! EDX testing week is upon us 🙂
This week in the gym is both a culmination of the recent work you all have put in as well as a fresh start. Whether you have been a die-hard regular the past three months, or just getting back on the horse, it’s important that you do your best to attend as many classes this week as possible.
An aspect that is unique to EDX CrossFit is our regular quarterly fitness testing. This testing is a bit more thorough than the Presidential fitness testing that many of us grew up with in elementary school …and way more fun!
Each quarter, the EDX staff look at how our gym has developed as a whole. We run you guys through a series of strength and cardiovascular tests. Using the average male and female scores, the gym’s strengths, weakness and potential imbalances are determined. These numbers shape the upcoming training to focus on injury prevention and sequential development based on the current abilities of our members.
Your participation matters!
Please appreciate that whether you have been here for 2 days, 2 months or 2 years, your results matter. For example, if the longer-term members with more development and familiarity with the tests show up more during testing week, it will skew the future workouts in a way that is not fair to the people just joining us. Conversely, if any member gives less than their best effort, it lets the gym down as well.
How to approach this week:
If you have been a member for at least 3 months, go into Zenplanner and look up your old lifting / testing numbers. Think about how regular your schedule has been as of late and factor that into your plan to push your numbers forward. If life has been hectic, your schedule has been off, do your best to match your old numbers. That is totally ok!!
If you are a new member (less than 3 months), your primary objective is to gain familiarity with all the tests and develop a new insight on your personal strengths, weaknesses and imbalances. Testing is not a judgement but a learning about oneself. Create a good attitude around this week and just have fun!
Good luck with all your workouts this week. Remember, it’s not your results that matter but the experience gained through your best efforts!
