It’s that time of the year again! I can smell it in the air. No, not fall season, it’s The CrossFit Open 2019! And here at EDX, we are celebrating with a spooky, yet fun, Friday night celebration (click here to RSVP to Friday Night Lights).
So whether you are a seasoned CrossFitter or brand-spanking new to the sport of fitness, I am here to break it down for you.
What is the CrossFit Open?
The CrossFit Open is a worldwide competition that is open to everyone. Workouts are released online by CrossFit Headquarters every Thursday for 5 weeks, and athletes (thats YOU!) have until the following Monday to submit their scores to Open.CrossFit.com Anyone – of all levels and abilities can sign up and join in the first stage of the CrossFit Games season. At the end of the five weeks, the top man and woman from each country will be crowned a National Champion and earn a spot to the CrossFit Games (click here to keep reading about The CrossFit Open).
How will EDX participate?
The workout will be released on CrossFit.com on Thursday each week of the five weeks. We will complete the CrossFit Open workout (either as prescribed or scaled) in the Breathe portion of Friday classes.
On October 25th, we will host a special Friday Night Lights to compete, participate and support each other in that week’s Opens workout. This special event is the only opportunity for us to come together as a community to cheer each other on. Bring your friends, family and yourself, even if you did the WOD earlier to cheer on your mates!
Why should I participate?
The CrossFit Open workouts are uniquely designed to challenge both your physical and mental toughness. And, completing the workout amongst some friendly competition could be just what you need to push past that unfound barrier. Not to mention, the CrossFit Open creates community and camaraderie here at EDX, and you are a major contributor of that already by just being you!
Onward we go,
Are you looking for a challenge, with some community, camaraderie and competition too?
